Cricket prodigy, rugby champion, co-creator of Australian Rules;
as a sportsman, Tom Wills had it all.

At 14 his father sent him to Rugby School in England to become a gentleman, and he emerged a sporting hero. With Victoria recently split from New South Wales, Tom Wills led the cricket team to a victory that galvanised the new state and saw him recognised as the greatest cricketer in the land. Tom Wills would soon utter his famous words, “we shall have a game of our own”, and he set about drafting the rules for the new state’s game. But brutal tragedy changed the course of his life, and very publicly, brought him undone. It’s a gripping story that resonates in the careers of many modern sportsmen. For anyone with an interest in Australian sport, Tom Wills is a must see.
